what is bamx?
This Is Bigger Than a Week.
Black Music Week — BMW ATL — is a 13-day experience built to do more than celebrate Black music. It’s designed to activate it. Panels. Performances. Showcases. Dinners. Summits. Conversations that become collaborations.
This is Atlanta’s New Renaissance — a gathering staged in one city, built to reverberate around the world.
the Renaissance is Built on Five Pillars.
The Black Music Week foundation stands on five core values.
Pillar 1
Music & The Arts
Honoring the art effectively and amplifying its influence.
pillar 2
Culture & Community
Because sustainable culture requires deep roots and high affinity.
pillar 3
Education & Mentorship
Responsibility and pathway into the creative industry.
pillar 4
Technology & Innovation
Exploring the future of sound, technology, and innovation.
pillar 5
Economics, Business & Wellness
Real conversations about significant opportunities and growth.
Why Atlanta?
Harlem awakened the world. Atlanta activates the future.
For more than half a century, Atlanta has been the engine of Black music — not just producing it, but defining what it means, what it costs, and who profits. Atlanta doesn’t follow culture. It creates it.
Black Music Week is Atlanta’s New Renaissance — a conscious echo of the movement that happened in one city and reverberated for a century. BMW ATL gathers the artists, executives, creatives, and communities writing the next chapter together.
Because as an international city, the world already looks here.
When culture moves, the world moves.
Welcome to Atlanta.
What Does That Mean for You?
Panels that turn insight into action. Rooms where the next deal gets done. Access to the executives, artists, and innovators shaping the next era of Black music.
This is where conversations turn into collaborations.
America’s Original Music.
Black American music isn’t a genre — it’s the foundation of America’s sound. Born in the South and carried across the world, it gave birth to jazz, blues, R&B, rock, soul, funk, hip-hop, and trap. Every era of American music traces its roots back to Black creation, Black innovation, and Black persistence.
From Jimi Hendrix to Sly and the Family Stone, from the architects of Motown to the pioneers of Atlanta’s own sound — Black Music built a cultural legacy that never stopped moving forward.
Black Music Week honors those icons.
